The Pressure Shift

Who does this team become when the pressure is on?

Every team has a typical rhythm, and a different rhythm when the pressure is on. Most teams never look at the gap between the two. This resource shows it to you: a short individual self-assessment, then one thirty-minute team conversation about what everyone saw. No facilitator needed, no scores shared, nothing saved or sent anywhere.

One person organizes it for the team. If that is you, start at Step 1.

1 Download the Team Conversation Sheet

The sheet is the run-book for the whole thing: what everyone brings, the ground rule, the four steps of the conversation, and a reference page with everything the team will talk about. Download it first so you know where this is headed. One printed copy serves the whole room.

2 Everyone takes the assessment, alone

Send your team the link below. It takes about seven minutes: six workplace moments answered twice, once for a typical week and once for when the pressure is on, plus one closing question. Take it alone and do not compare notes beforehand. Each person brings two things to the conversation: their one sentence and their closing-question pick. The assessment tells you both at the end.

3 Meet for thirty minutes

Run the four steps from the sheet: the round, the moment, the reach, and the one thing. The team leaves with one pattern it has agreed to catch earlier, the words anyone can use to catch it, and a check-in date. That is the whole assignment, and it is enough.

The one rule

“This conversation describes patterns, not people. Every pressure pattern we talk about is something the whole team participates in, including by staying quiet while it happens. If something starts to sound like it is about one person, anyone can say ‘pattern, not person’ and we widen the lens.”

A note on privacy: the assessment stores nothing and sends nothing. Results live only on each person's screen, and the conversation asks for one sentence, never scores.
